HRCharter helps Babcock Engineering Services leverage investment in PeopleSoft ® and improve strategic HR planning

Babcock Engineering Services (BES) has purchased HRCharter Enterprise, Cezanne Software's organisation charting and management information system. HRCharter will be used to extract information from the PeopleSoft ® HR system to improve HR planning, provide management information and to enable Babcock's employees to access up-to-the minute organisation charts from the company intranet.
HRCharter has already been integrated with Babcock's PeopleSoft ® HR system and is being used by managers in the HR department and at divisional level. The company intends to roll it out across the company.
One of the most famous names in refitting ships and submarines, BES is headquartered in Rosyth, Scotland, and is the main division of the Babcock International Group.
Phil Walker, Personnel Manager, explains. "We operate in a very demanding business environment and we are constantly looking at how the structure of the company can be improved to support our business more effectively. We'll be using HRCharter to develop "what if" scenarios that will help us fully understand the implications of structural changes before they take place. And we'll be able to look at information like salaries, or work force demographics in a meaningful context."
Phil is confident that HRCharter will make a significant difference to Babcock's strategic HR planning, and he is already making cost savings with the organisational charts. Babcock had been using pre bundled 3rd party software to create their charts. Phil explains, "This required far too much work. It didn't create dynamic charts directly from our PeopleSoft ® data, it was limited to only four fields, and it couldn't cope with multiple incumbents. We ended up doing a lot of it manually. HRCharter takes care of all that, now we literally click a button and HRCharter does the rest. No more time wasted and we have charts that are always accurate."
For the future, Phil believes that HRCharter will continue to add value. "HRCharter is a management tool that really works, I believe that we've only just begun to explore its potential."
